Welcome Home Kit
UWAAF has developed Welcome Home Kits, which provides a tangible way to directly support the individuals who receive them by providing all the necessities for a person transitioning out of incarceration. We have used our own personal experiences and expertise in reentry to determine exactly which items are necessary and helpful for individuals in the reentry process. Each Kit includes 46-50 items and costs an average of $250.00 to produce.
The sponsor or donor can choose any recipient releasing within 3 months or leave it up to UWAAF to determine the recipient. We utilize our network of incarcerated individuals to receive referrals and information on others who will be released as our process for identifying who we choose as recipients of the welcome home kits unless a donor has specified a recipient. Information will be collected at purchase to further coordinate delivery of the kit for those who purchase for a specific individual releasing from a MN prison.
It should also be known that we do not believe in providing products to others that we wouldn’t use ourselves. When we purchase kit items, we always choose full sized items and find a balance between quality item and fair price.
